Due to poor quality fuel variable heavy loads and high combustion temperatures heavy duty diesel engines suffer from high levels of erosion and wear. The surface of Two-stroke diesel engine piston rods was normally conventionally chrome plated. Aludra has developed a coating that performs better due to high bond strengths, low coefficient of friction and better lubrication properties in combination with high micro hardness. Types as RTA MAN and B&W two stroke piston rods were successfully reconditioned by using Thermal spray techniques.
